AN ELGIN venue will play host to one of the most influential and innovative guitarists of the last 25 years.
Preston Reed will perform at The Drouthy Cobbler on Thursday (July 17) from 8pm.
The acoustic guitarist from New York State, invented a playing style in the 1980s that revolutionised the genre and inspired generations of players around the world.
Using the two-handed integrated percussive acoustic technique he pioneered, Reed fuses chord-based grooves, soaring melodic runs and polyrhythmic percussion creating an unique sound.
Since then Reed has toured globally.
In 2012, the guitarist took part in the 50-date European Guitar Masters Tour alongside Andy McKee.
That year he sold out gigs in Singapore, and played to audiences in Ireland and Croatia.
The following year saw him perform in China, Mexico, South Africa, France, the UK and Poland.
Reed’s live shows are full of contrasts, with riffs with the conviction of a rock guitarist alongside the subtlety of jazz musician, but no fancy gadgets or gimmicky.
Tickets cost £15 and are available from the bar or https://billetto.co.uk/preston-reed
