A LOSSIEMOUTH quarry, which has been the site of 15 deliberate fires in less than 18 months, is the focus of a new task force that is looking to extinguish the likelihood of future blazes.
Agencies have joined forces to tackle the issue of wilful fire-raising in Moray, with a campaign that is targeting Sunbank Quarry in Lossiemouth.
According to the Moray Community Safety Partnership, from April 1 2012 to August 1 2013, 15 deliberate fires were started in the area.
The new task group – which includes firefighters, police officers, community wardens, Pitgaveny Estate and Moray Council staff – will now meet with the community to raise the public’s awareness of the dangers and consequences of deliberately starting fires.
