THE Craigellachie to Maggieknockater road will be closed later this month to allow for £500,000 worth of drainage improvements to be carried out.
Work will begin on Monday, February 20 and is expected to last for around four weeks.
As a result that section of the A95 will be closed to through traffic, although access will be maintained to and from both communities.
A signed diversion route will be in place between Craigellachie and Mulben via the A941 to Rothes, then using the B9015 and B9103.
Access to premises adjacent to the works will be maintained from one direction and occupants will be advised of arrangements.
The road closure is considered necessary in the interests of safety for the workforce and motorists.
Eddie Ross, operating company representative for BEAR Scotland Ltd, said: "The A95 is an important road link in the north of Scotland and this section of the trunk road suffers from a lack of surface water drainage.
"These improvements to install a positive drainage system will help to remove surface water from the carriageway which affects road safety, particularly in winter conditions.
"The works are being carried out at this time to avoid the busier tourist periods which are important to the local community.
"We have liaised with Moray Council and Grampian Police to ensure the works can be carried out safely and efficiently.
"We would ask that road users plan their journeys carefully in advance using www.trafficscotland.org and allow extra time for their journey."
