A DRINK-driving blitz in Moray snared seven drivers over the festive period.
The annual Christmas and New Year drink-driving campaign in the Grampian Police force area caught 46 people, seven of them from Moray. Last year nine of 57 drivers over the limit were from Moray.
The 2010-2011 campaign was Moray’s best, with just four positive breath tests. That compared to nine in 2009-2010.
Inspector Scott Mann, who is responsible for roads policing in Moray, said that all of the drivers caught in the area between December 3 and January 3 were male, and two were aged between 17 and 25. One man from the Buckie area was caught twice.
During the whole of 2012, a total of 99 drivers were detected drink-driving in Moray, compared with 116 in 2011.
Insp Mann said that numbers in Moray had reduced year on year since 2007, when 150 drivers were caught.
