Sneak thief strikes in Elgin

police gaelic scotland alba A handbag, personal property and cash have been stolen from a property in Elgin.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident, which took place in Smith Street between 10.30pm on Monday night and 1.30am the following afternoon.

Enquiry officer Roseanna Davison said: "This has been an upsetting incident for the people involved and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything unusual or suspicious in that area to contact us on 101 quoting incident number 0757 of 14/11.

"We are also urging people to review their home security. Make sure all your windows and doors are locked even if you are at home.

"We would also ask that you keep an eye on neighbours in your community who may be more vulnerable and if you see anything concerning report it to police."
