A DROP of malt whisky and the skirl of the pipes got the Spey fishing season off to a fine start.

Anglers watched as a bottle of Glenfarclas was tipped into the river from the footbridge at Alice Littler Park in Aberlour on Saturday morning.

The crowd raised a toast and Reverend Shuna Dicks, minister for Craigellachie and Aberlour blessed the river as part of the ceremony.

Luck was with Rob Hay, secretary of Aberlour Angling Association, who was one of the first to land a salmon.
