Tree felling planned in Elgin

TREES in Elgin will be felled next week for safety reasons.

The work will be carried out on several beech trees in the Quarrelwood, to the rear of McIntosh Drive, and on elm trees within Cooper Park which have been infected by Dutch elm disease.

The elm will be replanted with disease resistant varieties.

A Moray Council spokesman said that although none of the tress was in imminent danger of falling, it had been decided to carry out the work as a preventative measure.
