AN EMOTIONAL farewell has been given to an inspiring and caring Moray teenager who lost his battle with cancer.
Matthew Campbell’s treatment for the disease over 14 years had fuelled a burning ambition to study medicine.
Matthew (16) had a passion to help others, and even as he battled his own illness, this spirit shone through. The teenager continued to volunteer at an old people’s home and helped out at a playgroup for young children with special learning needs.
His desire to help others also saw him sit on the Young People’s Advisory Group, established to help guide the development of a new children’s hospital in Edinburgh.
Tributes were paid to the popular Elgin Academy pupil at a remembrance service held in the school this week.
