A 54-YEAR-OLD woman has been charged after footage of a hit and run incident in Rothes was spread on social media.

Shot at exactly 10.33am on Land Street last Monday morning, the video shows a silver Vauxhall Corsa ploughing straight into a parked car, before driving off.

The force of the collision is enough that the Corsa momentarily bounces up into the air.

The parked vehicle –  a blue Ford Focus - was damaged so badly it had to be written off.

Its owner later put the footage on Facebook to appeal for help to trace whoever had damaged their car.

The woman is due to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court.
