Woman in her 60s mugged in Buckie

police scotland logoA WOMAN has been mugged in a Buckie street.

Although unhurt her assailant stole her black handbag and all its contents valued at a low three figure sum.

The incident occurred at around 11pm on Wednesday in Brodie Avenue.

The woman in her sixties, described the thief as male, in his early twenties, about five foot six and of medium build.

He was wearing a dark coloured sweatshirt with a hood pulled tight concealing most of his face.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Investigating officer Kevin Petrie said: "An elderly woman was the victim of a cowardly act in that a male stole her hand bag whilst she was walking home from work.

"Fortunately she was not injured however the incident has left her shaken."
