Woman shaken after Forres armed robbery

police scotland logoAN ARMED robber brandished a weapon at a woman before stealing money from a Forres shop.

Police are appealing for information on the incident that took place at 2.50pm on Friday t the Scottish and Southern Energy store on the town’s High Street.

The male suspect concealed his face with a dark hat and scarf, and was last seen running down Caroline Street

He is described as 5ft 7in tall, of stocky build, with a deep Scottish accent, dark eyes and wearing a dark blue or grey jacket with a light coloured collar, black trousers and black shoes.

The shop assistant was shaken but unhurt.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Wilson said: "The town centre was busy at the time and people may have seen this man loitering in the area.

"I would appeal for anyone who saw him before or after the crime or anyone who has specific information about the suspect to contact the police as soon as possible."

Det Sgt Wilson added: "Thankfully incidents of this nature are extremely rare in our area and I would like to reassure the local community that we are doing everything possible to trace the suspect."
