A DOUBLE dose of derby defeat hasn’t taken Buckie Thistle’s eye off the big prize, the coveted Highland League Cup trophy.
The Jags take on Clach in the final of the competition on Saturday at Keith, bidding to lift the silverware for the second time in three seasons.
Manager Gary Hake is taking a guarded approach to this weekend’s Kynoch Park showpiece, as he feels the team which is tightest at the back will claim the glory on the day.
Since a famous 3-1 win at Inverurie Locos in the semis, Hake has watched his team suffer back-to-back derby losses to Deveronvale in the league, both cruelly inflicted by last-minute goals.
He insists both setbacks will count for nothing when his men step out on Saturday, pumped up for another big cup final occasion.
“My players have bounced back from disappointment before this season, and shown the right character,” Hake said. “I know they will be up for it on Saturday."
