BUCKIE Thistle bad boy Gary Clark has kicked his last ball for the Victoria Park club.
The former Cove and Deveronvale midfielder was sent off in Jags’ 1-1 draw at Turriff on Saturday, and manager Gary Hake confirmed the player was being freed this week.
Hake refused to say if the decision was a disciplinary measure against Clark, who was shown a straight red card at The Haughs for mouthing off at an assistant referee midway through the first half.
On Wednesday, the manager said: “Over the next couple of days, his contract will be terminated. Let’s just say that Gary and the club have parted company, and he won’t play for us again.
“His conduct towards the linesman on Saturday was not acceptable to this club.
“But Gary had already indicated that he was not signing a new contract anyway, so it’s probably best for both parties that we move on now and go our separate ways.”
Clark’s exit over-shadowed a good week for the Jags, who reached the semi-finals of the Aberdeenshire Shield on Tuesday night with a 3-1 win over junior side Banks O’ Dee.
A double by stand-in striker Lewis Mackinnon and a Shawn Scott strike eased Buckie through to a semi-final visit to Cove later this month.
