SATURDAY is D-Day for Elgin City’s out of contract players as Barry Wilson will reveal which members of his squad he wants to keep for next season.
The City boss will reveal who stays and who goes after this weekend’s final home match of the season against East Stirling.
Top scorers Craig Gunn and Shane Sutherland, who both netted in last week’s 2-2 draw at Stirling Albion, are two who Wilson said he definitely wants to hold on to, and is confident they will stay at the club.
However, centre back Sean Crighton is understood to be attracting interest from the higher leagues and may be set for a move away from Borough Briggs.
Gunn, scorer of 17 goals this season, may sit out this weekend’s Shire game as he is just one booking away from a suspension.
And Sutherland was rumoured to be subject to interest from League 2 champs Peterhead.
But Wilson said: “Teams have been sniffing about Gunny and Shane and I’ve still to speak to them. But they are two I definitely have to keep hold of if I can, and I’m hopeful they will stay here.”
The manager added that he has been given a positive vibe from two SPL players who he is keen to bring to Borough Briggs.Read full story and news on fresh Elgin injury blow in Northern Scot print version.
