Keith midfielder Gary McNamee suffered a double leg break in Saturday's match against Buckie Thistle.
The second half substitute was involved in a clash with Chris Hegarty in the last few minutes at Kynoch Park.
Manager Darren Still announced that his player will miss the rest of the season.
"He has had an operation and now starts a long road to recovery. We will be putting in place a support programme for Gary's return. The incident was very upsetting, but Gary is a chirpy character and I have no doubt he can come back from this."
Hegarty was at first yellow carded and after the referee consulted a linesman, was shown red amid chaotic scenes which saw players on both sides squaring up to each other.
McNamee was stretchered off and taken by ambulance to hospital.
Buckie took a first half lead through Neil Davidson and added a second from sub Nikki Smith in the final minute.
