ROSS Jack hailed his Elgin City Broadwood braves for digging deep to end their poor away run with a 2-1 win at Clyde.
The City boss said his players overcame a delayed arrival in Cumbernauld due to a crash on the A9, and dreadful weather conditions to pull off a great victory.
Two goals in two second half minutes by Daniel Moore and sub Mark Durnan overturned Clyde's half time lead given to them by a cruel own goal by Elgin captain David Niven.
"It was a very, very hard-fought victory in the most horrendous of conditions," Jack said.
"We had a pretty horrible journey and were held up by a bad crash, so we didn't arrive at the ground until twenty past 7.
"Then we were against a howling gale and driving rain in the first half.
"We went behind to a freak own goal which hit David Niven in the face, but played well and probably didn't deserve to be losing at half time.
"After that, it was a great fighting performance from the players and an excellent result for us."
Moore equalised for the Black and Whites with a wind assisted free kick on 53 minutes, which he launched forward from deep inside the Clyde half and deceived the goalkeeper.
Two minutes later Moore crossed to the back post for sub Durnan, who had only been on the park for five minutes, to head home what proved to be the winner.
It was City's first-ever SFL win over Clyde in six attempts, and their first victory on the road since a 3-1 success at Peterhead on September 10.
The win also made it three-in-a-row following the 6-1 thrashing of Peterhead and Saturday's 3-0 success over leaders Alloa, and took Elgin to within two points of the play-offs - with a game in hand.
Now manager Jack is relishing this weekend's trip to Montrose.
"We'll be up against a similar team to Clyde in that they are stuffy at home and make things difficult for anyone who goes there.
"But we've set a standard now and really put ourselves in there, so we need to keep rolling the sleeves up and battling every game."
A win at Montrose on Saturday could take City into fourth spot and a potential promotion play-offs berth if nearest rivals Annan fail to win at Peterhead.
