Wednesday’s draw at Easter Road paired the Moray side with the Binos, who were promoted from City’s league last season through the play-offs.

Barry Wilson’s new signings Mike Fraser and Matthew Cooper could make their competitive debuts for the club in the tie on Saturday, July 26.

Returning players Daniel Moore and Gordon Finlayson have also bolstered Wilson’s squad, with a couple of new additions expected over the coming weeks.

City have avoided Highland League champions Brora Rangers in the first round, with the Sutherland men hosting League 1 Stenhousemuir in their first-ever game in the competition.

Lowland League champs Spartans are also entering for the first time, and they visit Greenock Morton in the Southern Section of the draw.

The big match in the draw sees Rangers at home to Hibernian, who were relegated from the Premiership last term, while Hearts are at home to League 2 Annan.
