FORRES Thistle have won the Elginshire Refrigeration Cup.
The Jags beat Buckie Rovers 3-1 in the final at Elgin City’s Borough Briggs on Sunday.
Forres dominated the game and deservedly led 2-0 at half-time thanks to a double from Matty Fraser in a three minute spell just before the break.
Buckie player-boss Stephen Bruce pulled one back with a header 15 minutes from time.
However, Mark Pennie secured the win with eight minutes remaining when he scored from a corner.
Forres boss Ian McLeod said: "Once we got the ball down and scored the first goal I thought we looked quite comfortable for the majority of the game.
McLeod thanked the supporters. "The fans were absolutely brilliant," he added.
The game was the last for the Rovers management trio of Alfie Morrison, Stephen Bruce and Mark Wood, with Dave Findlay, the former Buckie Thistle head of youth, taking over next season.
Morrison said: "We couldn’t really handle their pace up front. They were the better team and deserved to win.
