LOSSIEMOUTH could be set to lose top goalscorer Ross Archibald, with Moray rivals Forres Mechanics in line to snap up the striker.

Mechanics boss Charlie Rowley said the 21-year-old has agreed terms to a move to Mosset Park, but both clubs have yet to thrash out a deal.

Despite Lossie’s struggles near the foot of the Highland League table this season, Archibald has impressed with a 12-goal haul by Christmas.

If he does complete a transfer to Forres, he would become the third top scoring Coaster to move to another Moray club in the past two years.

Shawn Scott and Nikki Smith both made the move to Buckie Thistle in search of silverware, and the Grant Park men look likely to lose another prize asset.

Forres manager Rowley said: "He’s agreed to come to us but we’re still trying to work on a deal with Lossie just now.

"We enquired about him at the start of the season but they were not willing to let him go.

"He’s out of contract at the end of the year so it all depends on Lossie. We’ve put in what we feel is a pretty fair bid but the ball is in their court now."

Archibald and his twin brother Liam came through the youth ranks at Elgin City before being snapped up by then Lossie manager Charlie Charlesworth.
