Carrol's return to the game comes almost two years after he quit the Jags after steering them to two Highland League titles, Aberdeenshire Cup and Highland League Cup in three seasons at Victoria Park.

Carrol (42) also steered Deveronvale to two Highland League titles in 2003 and 2006.

Confirming Carrol's appointment on the official club website www.huntlyfc.co.uk, Chairman George Clark said: “Gregg Carrol has been one of the most successful managers in the history of the Highland League. So we are pleased that he has recognised the progress being made by the club off the park, and is prepared to help shape its future."

Carrol will be assisted by Huntly legend Mark Gray who was part of the coaching staff under Dave McGinlay.

"Gregg was keen to include Mark Gray as part of his management team and this recognises the significant contribution that Mark has made and will continue to make as an integral part of our club," added the chairman.

Gray has been in charge of the team for the last three matches following McGinlay and Jim Cheyne's departure from Christie Park.
