The Moray and Banff Referees Association is looking to train more over the summer.

This is a great time to get involved in refereeing with major sports brand adidas supplying the kits for the referees (Scottish FA Referees will be sporting the same styles as the world cup this summer) as well as promotional opportunities.

Association member Douglas Ross, a Specialist Assistant Referee, represented the association recently at the Scottish League Cup final and with two of its youngest members Harry Bruce (17) and Sean Thompson (18) also promoted to the Highland League Assistant Referee list this season, that shows the real potential of the Moray area providing top officials for the future.

The next Referee course starts tonight (Thursday) and runs for eight weeks.

Anyone keen to sign up can still do so in time for tonight or the second session next week.

The course is free and open to men and women aged over 16. Each candidate will also receive a free ‘Laws of the Game’ book.

To find out more information on the course please contact recruitment officer Robbie Hope on (01343) 551 114 email robihope@hotmail.co.uk or contact the association secretary Douglas Ross on 01343 550 048 or email douglas.ross@scottish.parliament.uk

•This free course is funded by the SPFL Trust Scottish Communities League Cup Fund, supported by the Scottish Government.
