Rangers jump above Elgin

RANGERS have gone two points clear of Elgin City at the top of the third division.

Ally McCoist's side finally got their first away win of the season on Sunday with a 2-0 victory at Clyde.

Goals from Dean Shiels and Lee McCulloch gave the Glasgow giants the win.

The result knocks Elgin off the top spot they gained on Saturday with a 2-2 draw at Montrose.

However, City were left to rue missed chances against the Links Park side as they let a 2-0 lead slip against the ten men.

Elgin now look forward to a Scottish Cup third round match against second division East Fife at Borough Briggs on Saturday.

The Methil men lost 1-0 at second division leaders Queen of the South on Sunday and sit second bottom of the table.
