THE underdogs tag will suit Buckie Thistle when they line up on Saturday for their Highland League Cup semi-final at Inverurie Locos.
Jags overcame the odds to beat high-flying Forres in the last round, and boss Gary Hake is calling on his men to cause a similar upset at Harlaw Park.
But with Locos like a runaway train at the moment, clocking up their 11th straight victory in midweek, the Buckie boss knows his team will have to hit top form if they are to keep their cup dreams alive.
“Semi-finals are tough regardless of who you play, and all the teams left in the competition deserve to be in it at this stage,” Hake said. “But Locos will be favourites against us – I’m pretty sure of that.
“They are probably the most in-form team bar Brora at the moment, so that makes it tough. But we’ve beaten them once this season, drawn with them once and they’ve defeated us, so I expect it to be a tight game.
“On Saturday, at Locos it’ll be down to either who has the nerve for the semi-final occasion or who has got that bit more quality than the opposition.”
