HAT-TRICK hero John McLeod inspired an impressive Buckie Thistle Scottish Cup win on Saturday.
Jags hammered Lowland League leaders Glasgow BSC 6-2 at Victoria Park, with highlights from William Hill Scottish Cup YouTube channel shown above.
The Highland League champions are through to round three where they are home to Brechin City, who they have already defeated in this year’s Irn Bru Cup comeptition.
McLeod was the main difference between the teams, winning an early penalty kick before netting three times to floor the Glaswegians.
The striker netted seven goals for Buckie in last season’s Scottish Cup including five in one match against Gretna 2008.
Shaun Carrol scored the penalty and two superb McLeod finishes and a spectacular Stevie Ross free kick saw Buckie with one foot in the next round by half time.
One setback for Buckie was an injury to goalkeeper Daniel Bell after half an hour, which saw him replaced by Darren Strong.
It wasn’t all plain sailing for Jags in the second half as Glasgow rallied and scored twice.
Stephen Murray’s brilliant free kick beat Strong, then a Martin Grehan penalty made it 4-2.
BSC hit a post soon after, before Buckie nerves were settled when Chris Angus got the final touch to a Carrol free kick to make it 5-2.
