IT’S TIME to lift the stormy clouds over Borough Briggs with a right good league season, says Elgin City boss Barry Wilson.
Last weekend’s 5-0 League Cup defeat at Queen of the South, on the back of a 3-0 Challenge Cup loss to Stirling Albion, has provided Moray’s doom-and-gloom merchants with plenty of ammunition to fire on City.
But Wilson feels cup defeats count for little when the club is aiming for progress in League 2, and says this weekend’s opener against East Fife is the real start to the season.
"I don’t know for how many years there’s been a cloud over this club," he said. "But we are trying hard to get away from that, and the only thing that will do it is wins.
"I really do mean it when I say the season starts officially on Saturday. It’s the start of the league campaign and we’ll be going all out to try and make a winning start."
