Zander brace pushed Brora closer to title

BRORA Rangers took a huge step towards winning their first-ever Highland League title by defeating Inverurie Locos.

SHFLtv cameras captured the action (see below) as former Elgin and Buckie star Zander Sutherland netted twice for the Sutherland side in a 2-1 win at Locos.

The result put Brora four points clear of second-placed Nairn County, who have played four more games.

Nairn looked destined to lose at Turriff until a dramatic late comeback saw them steal all three points.

Ex-Buckie skipper Mike Morrison lobbed in an 88th minute equaliser before Archie MacPhee – formerly of Forres and Elgin – grabbed a winner at the death.

Forres drew 2-2 with Wick while Rothes lost 4-2 against Clach, and this week’s Northern Scot print edition will have photos, reports and reaction from around the grounds.
