THIS weekend sees Moray host one of its biggest-ever bowls tournaments.
The British Isles Bowls Council (BIBC) men’s junior (under 25) home international competition will be staged at Moray Bowling Club on September 10 and 11.
Flying the flag for Moray in the Scotland team taking on England, Wales and Ireland will be Kevin McDonald, from Burghead's St Aethans Bowling Club.
It will be the biggest event in Moray BC's 102-year history, with 96 of the best young bowlers in the UK and hundreds of spectators expected to visit the Seafield Street club.
Moray teenager McDonald plays his first match on Saturday morning as Scotland take on England in their opening contest.
Over the weekend, the four countries will each split into six teams of four, playing a total of 126 ends in each match.
The event is expected to bring a sporting and tourism boost to the area.
“As well as around 100 players alone, there’s the coaches and the officials and because it’s a junior tournament many of them will be bringing their families," said Moray BC president Sandra Dean.
