CURLER Gregor Ewan heads into the new year in confident mood and eagerly awaiting one of the proudest moments of his life.
Gregor (42), from Elgin, will represent Team GB in the wheelchair curling at the Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.
His appearance at his first games from March 7-16 will represent a remarkable journey from the depths of despair to the pinnacle of sporting achievement, after suffering a collapsed spine eight years ago caused by ongoing problems with a prolapsed disc.
Gregor admitted: “When I ended up in the chair, I was ready to shoot myself to be honest.
“I get my GB kit (for the Paralympics) on January 24 and that will be fantastic. I was really proud when I got my first Scottish top so I will be even more proud to get a GB top.”
The Moray Wheelchair Curling Club member will be jetting out to Sochi in March as part of a five-strong GB team bidding for gold.
