MORAY athlete Mark Mitchell hopes that competing against Olympic hero Mo Farah can inspire him to reach this year’s Commonwealth Games.
The Forres Harriers’ middle distance runner is back on track after a year of injury hell, and returned to winning ways recently in the Glasgow Milers’ indoor 3,000m race.
Now he’s keen to return to his form of 2012, which saw him win a Scottish title double and run in the same field as the mighty Farah in his Olympic glory year.
The Edinburgh-based student, currently in his final year doing a post-graduate physiotherapy degree, recalled even staying at Mo’s home in London during his younger days of competing on the national circuit.
Said Mitchell: "I’ve done a lot of training over autumn and winter, but to be honest it just feels good to be back."
His dream is to make the Scotland team to run in the 1,500 metres around the new Hampden Park track this summer, an arena he knows well as a Tartan Army football fan.
