THE Snowman rally, based in Inverness, was abandoned following the death of a woman spectator.
The 50-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries after a car collided with spectators during the first stage of the rally.
An eight year old boy has been taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment.
Northern Constabulary commented: "The boy's condition is not believed to be life threatening. Neither the driver or the co-driver of the vehicle was injured as a result of the incident. No other spectators were injured.
The dead woman was named as Joy Robson from the Isle of Skye.
Members of the Force's Road Policing Unit are be carrying out a full road collision investigation and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
