Typhoons aim to bring down Comets

MORAY Typhoons are hoping to end the year on a high by beating Dundee Comets.

The Typhoons crashed out of the Scottish Cup 13-3 at Kirkcaldy Kestrels last weekend.

They bring the curtain down on the first half of the season at home to Dundee this Saturday (Dec 14) at Moray Leisure Centre. The game has a 6pm face-off.

Meanwhile, tributes have been paid to the grandfather of ice hockey in Moray, Ernie 'Rip' Ripley who has died at the age of 88.

He only stopped skating at the age of 80 because he could not longer be covered by insurance.

A tribute match was played at Moray Leisure Centre last weekend in memory of Rip. Photos by Liam McBride.

For a full tribute and pictures of Rip on the ice see 'The Northern Scot' print version on Friday.
