MORAY Typhoons were blown away by Dundee Comets in their Scottish Ice Hockey League return.
The Moray side lost 9-3 at Dundee Ice Arena last Saturday night.
A tight first period saw the hosts score the only goal after four minutes.
However, they upped the tempo in the second period and stormed into a 4-0 lead before Kev Russell pulled one back for the visitors.
Dundee went 5-1 up early in the final period before Basil Harbinson pulled another goal back for the Typhoons, who were returning to the Scottish league after a number of years without senior hockey in Moray. The Typhoons couldn’t force their way back into the match and Dundee rattled in three more goals to lead 8-2.
Scott Ogg grabbed a third before Dundee completed the scoring in the closing stages.
The Typhoons will be hoping to become increasingly competitive as they gel more as a team over the season.
Stats, Typhoons: B. Harbinson, K. Russell 1+1; S. Ogg 1+0; F. Munro, M. Stanford 0+1.
The Typhoons have a league fixture at Moray Leisure Centre against Kirkcaldy Kestrels at 6.30pm on Saturday September 21.
