The A701 is closed in both directions 1 mile south of the B7076. Northbound diversion is as follows At A75/A701 junction in Dumfries - take A75 eastbound - continue to roundabout junction with A709 Dumfries By-pass - take 1st exit to A709 - continue towards Lockerbie - pass through Torthorwald and Lochmaben - at Lockerbie go over M74 and take left at slip road to B7076 - continue to B7076 - take right onto B7076 and continue to roundabout at A7068 - take 2nd exit to B7076 continue to Beattock - rejoin A701. The southbound is the reverse of this.
