ALABAMA 3 return to the Ironworks Inverness on Friday, November 7.
Long-time favourites in the Highlands, the latest date comes as the band get set to release their latest album The Women From W.O.M.B.L.E: Volume Two. in October, though first there’s to be a promised live album this summer.
The band’s founding members adopted the personas Larry Love(Rob Spragg) and The Very Reverend Dr D Wayne Love (Jake Black) and haven’t looked back.
For anyone who doesn’t know, here’s their story: "We make Sweet Pretty Muthaf***in Country Acid House Music. All night long. We’re not from Alabama, and there’s not three of us.
"We’re from Brixton, London. We’re the fellas that did that Sopranos’ theme tune.
"Alabama 3 is a pop band, a punk rock, blues and country techno situationist crypto-Marxist-Leninist electro band.
We never went on X Factor or Pop Idol ... we did it the old fashioned way.
"Back in 1996, we threw a big old party, invited all our friends ..."
And the party’s still going with their latest album from last November The Men From W.O.M.B.L.E: Volume One about to be followed by Volume Two.
Larry Love said: "On Women From W.O.M.B.L.E Vol. 2, we wanted to collaborate with the cool sisters, the mothers of our community to see what happened."
"From the opening track Black Betty, it begins with a revolutionary re-appropriation of a Leadbelly classic. Now re-worked by Alabama 3’s very own Aurora Dawn –brace yourselves for a militant adaptation, applicable to every young woman about whom they cried "The damn thing went wild".
"Serving as a sassy prelude for everything to come – a 12-track LP ensues, which serves as ground for female conflicts and coalitions.
Talking about the making of the new album, Alabama 3 reveal on their website: "There’s nothing more horrifying or depressing than making music in the months of January, February and March, particularly if you’ve just recovered from two months of hard partying.
"Alabama 3 think outside the box and have recorded this instalment in the depths of depressing mid-winter.
"Hopefully our pessimistic world view has translated into summer anthems that you can all shimmy to."
Larry Love said of the next album and the 19-date tour to support it this autumn: "Women From W.O.M.B.L.E Volume 2 is packed with absolute bangers, which we can’t wait to share live on this tour.
"Our W.O.M.B.L.E albums have been an exercise to sift all the believers from the non-believers.
"We just wanna know which side are you on?"
Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Friday) from the Ironworks at 9am.
