The Eagle Bar in Inverness has just announced that in association with a Perthshire promotion company that the Final of the Highland Battle of the Bands on Friday January 31 will now act as a heat for the national battle of the bands contest Tri-Angle.
Tri-Angle Productions is a Perth based company set up by Ashley Newman and Colin Sheach, two students studying Music Business at Perth UHI.
Tri-Angle comes from the idea of basing things around the number three.
Together they came up with the idea of holding three heats around Scotland to create a triangle shape (Perth, Inverness and Glasgow) Taking the three winners, one from each heat for a final in the summer time.
After approaching The Eagle Bar to host one of these heats, it has been agreed that the final for the Highland Battle of the Bands (currently running every Friday and Saturday throughout January) shall also act as the Inverness heat of Tri-Angle.
Eagle booker Stuart Thain said: “Taking into account that the prize for the Highland Battle of the Bands is to record a single with producer Andy Miller at Gargleblast Studios and have a professional video made by Big Box Network the addition of the winning band going to the Tri-Angle final just raises the contest to a whole new level."
