This Sunday sees the Ironworks Easter Showcase! For just £5, you can go along, drink Tennants from plastic cups and see eight local bands vie for your affection. You lucky people. Here, What's On North runs down the bands, tries to summarise them as easily as possible, and provides a sample of the band's music!
Garden Of Elks: Weird as hell, yet wonderfully-listenable rock 'n roll.
Lionel: Indie rock, all jaggy riffs and catchy hooks.
Schnarff Schnarff: We already wrote about them here. They're great – here's a different song by them though.
Susanna Wolfe: Singer-songwriter from Dingwall with a country tinge.
Paul Maciver & Lauren Mackenzie: Acoustic duo with uplifting melodies. Video's just Paul Maciver – to see what Lauren gets up to you'll just have to go and bloody see them.
Dylan Tierney: HE PLAYS GUITAR, SINGS AND IS YOUNG ALL AT THE SAME TIME HOW IT POSSIBLE TO DO ALL OF THESE THREE THINGS ONCE? (he's also really good)
Cryptic Keys: Acoustic three-piece who have accrued enough of our critical saliva by now. Just listen to them, they're awesome.
Devil's Queen: Big, brash hard rock group. Nothing recorded I'm afraid, you'll need to go check them out for yourself.
The Ironworks Easter Showcase is on Sunday April 20. Tickets cost £5. For more info, go to http://www.ironworksvenue.com/event.php?eid=635.
