THE pupils of Plockton’s National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music, Sgoil Chiùil Na Gàidhealtachd, are heading out on their annual tour with appearances at Glenfinnan, Glasgow, Milngavie and Strachur.
The tour runs from Monday 31st March to Thursday 3rd April, and the venues are The Church of St. Mary and St. Finnan, Glenfinnan, on Monday, Saint Andrew’s In The Square, Glasgow, on Tuesday, The Music School of Douglas Academy, Milngavie, on Wednesday, and Strachur Memorial Hall, Argyll, on Thursday. There will also be a number of schools workshops in the daytime.
The Glasgow concert is a joint fundraiser for The Friends Of Plockton Music School and Saint Andrew’s In The Square, and this year’s senior pupils will share the bill with several successful former students, including, Daniel Thorpe, Innes Watson, Neil Ewart, Suzanne Houston, the band Cherry Grove and recent BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner Mischa MacPherson.
The other shows will also provide a platform for some local up-and-coming talent.
