SHARON Corr of Irish international hit group The Corrs makes a return to the Highlands in September, a little over a year after helping Runrig celebrate their 40th anniversary at the band’s Party on The Moor.
Before embarking on her solo career, singer-songwriter and violinist Sharon spent 15 years with sisters Andrea and Caroline and brother Jim, selling over 45 million albums and collecting a BRIT Award as well as a Grammy nomination.
When The Corrs took time off to focus on their growing families, Sharon, although a mother of two children herself, began working on solo material.
Her self penned debut solo album Dream Of You, which was released in 2010, will be followed this September by The Same Sun.
Produced by leading producer Mitchell Froom and recorded in LA, this was a much more stripped back and organic record, drawing on Sharon’s influences from the 1960s all the way through to today.
Away from music she is an ambassador for Oxfam Ireland, continuing the work for good causes she began as a member of The Corrs, who were awarded honorary MBEs for services to charity as well as music.
Sharon Corr appears at the Ironworks Inverness on Sunday 14th September.
Tickets are on sale on Friday 13th June from 10am.
