HIGHLAND dance promoter Robotone is celebrating its 10th anniversary with the Soma Summer Party at The Ironworks, Inverness, on Saturday 16th August featuring Slam, Secluded (Soma Records), Alan Macpherson, and Alan Grant.
In the past two decades, Slam have helped defined techno in Scotland, cultivated many artists of note on their Soma label, and remixed such stars as Josh Wink and Paul Ritch,Daft Punk and Underworld. The Slam partnership of Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle have travelled far and wide, touring Europe, Australia, the USA, South America and Asia. They hold residencies at three leading UK clubs, Pressure & Sub Club in their home town of Glasgow and Fabric in London.
Secluded is a new alias created at the beginning of 2012 by Sleaze Records label boss Hans Bouffmyhre. With the aim to explore a new techno vibe, inspired by sounds from Berlin & Detroit, Secluded productions are characterised with a deep pounding beat, softened by dubby synth passages and deep soundscapes, creating a gloomy atmosphere. Vinyl releases already out on EarToGround & Sleaze Records include remixes by Jonas Kopp, Markus Suckut, Mike Dehnert and Shifted.
Robotone was started by Highland based Robbie Dunsmore in 2004 with club nights in the function room of Oscars Bar in Dingwall. Over the years the Robotone events progressed to bigger venues with nights in the Ironworks Inverness featuring acts such as The Orb, Phil Hartnoll (Orbital), Slam, Luke Slater, Silicone Soul, Altern8, Funk D’Void and Dave Clarke.
Tickets for the Soma Summer Party are available now from The Ironworks.
