If you looked up cool in the dictionary, it might as well say “See: Pharrell Williams”. Or at least, it would if even the dictionary wasn't gushing about how great he is. And he is great – a great singer, a great producer (as one half of The Neptunes), and a great songwriter.
He's had his fingers in a fair few musical pies this year, our Pharrell. He featured on the two biggest songs of the year – Get Lucky by French electro-gods Daft Punk, and Blurred Lines by dirty old man Robin Thicke. Now he's striking out alone with this new slice of nostalgia-happy R&B called Happy.
Originally done for the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack, the song is, as you can probably guess from the title, a pretty uplifting number. It's a lovely little slice of retro Motown that has us grinning from ear to ear.
I know it's only Wednesday, but this song will make you feel like it's Friday every day. Have a listen and let us know what you think.
