We at What's On North like to pretend that we're pretentious as anything. Give us some jarring free-style Belgian Jazz and we'll wax lyrical on the brilliance of the 7/4 timing oboe solo, the eight minute long scream and the bit where the saxophonist sounds like he's kicking a cat to death. However, what we secretly yearn for in our heart of hearts is a good solid anthem – something we can get drunk and chant along to like the mainstream poseurs we truly are.
Thankfully, Silver Coast provide everything we need, and more, with their new single “Believe”. It's a thumping foot-stomper that's guaranteed to get you moving, with a big hooky chorus to sing along with at the top of your voice. It sounds rather similar to Feeder when they were able to practically write these sorts of big, ear-grabbing power ballads in their sleep, which is the highest compliment I can pay this great song.
So put down your oboe, stop hurting that poor animal, listen and just enjoy yourself.
