In a first for music festivals in Scotland, Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival fans can watch a star line-up of Scottish wrestlers grapple it out over August 8 and 9.

Billed as A Rumble On The Drum, the wrestling will feature six matches each day at the now sold-out Highland festival.

Fans can see Scottish wrestling stars Grado and Jack Jester – recent stars of BBC1 documentary Insane Fight Club in bouts to be fought under American-style rules – there will also be a tag match and a storyline developing over the two days.

Also fighting will be Noam Dar and Wolfgang, with more stars yet to be announced.

Grado is described as "by a country mile the most unique wrestler in Scotland today", while Jack Jester comes with the tag: "one bad man with a bad attitude – he doesn’t seem bothered as to who’s put in front of him in his quest to become top dog in Scotland".

Wolfgang is heralded as "‘one of the most gifted big men wrestling in the UK today", while Noam Dar is said to be "the most in demand wrestler in the UK".

The wrestling, which is presented by PBW (Premier British Wrestling), will be fought under "one fall to a finish" with a win only by pin fall or submission.

“I didn’t have to wrestle with a decision on this one for long," said festival promoter Joe Gibbs.

"Wrestling in Scotland is enjoying a huge resurgence as family entertainment and has developed a strong following amongst kids and adults. And it’s kind of in keeping with our Wild Life’ theme this year!"

Campervan and caravan tickets for the event sold out first, two months ahead of last year, and sales of tickets to the event were running at well above last year’s rate even before the announcement of Friday headliner Tom Jones last week.

The festival has sold out each of the past five years.

The legendary Tom Jones is to headline the Friday of the festival while the Saturday night features the popular rock band Razorlight at the top of the bill.

Frightened Rabbit will return to the event as very special guests.

Also featured will be: Billy Bragg; The Temperance Movement; Adrian Emondson & The Bad Shepherds; The Mekons with Robbie Fulks; Casual Sex; Esperanza; Danny & The Champions Of The World; The Big Fat Electric Ceilidh Band; Call To Mind; Randolph’s Leap; Dorec-a-Belle; The Lorelei; Scooty & The Skyhooks; Mad Dog McRea; Caledonian Ceilidh Trail and Holly Atkinson from Inverness, the 2013 winner of Bella’s Got Talent. Many more artists are still to be announced.

Full weekend are now sold out, Saturday, child (12 & under), and electrical hook-up campervan and caravan e-tickets can be purchased by going to the ticket link on the festival’s web site www.tartanheartfestival.co.uk.

The 2014 theme is ‘Wild Life, in keeping with the party atmosphere the milestone event is bound to create. Belladrum 2014 takes place in the beautiful Highland surroundings of Belladrum Estate, near Beauly in Inverness-shire. The independent festival has built a reputation for its eclectic line-ups, its offbeat non-musical entertainments and its all-ages approach. The festival won a VisitScotland Thistle Award in 2009 and is a past winner of the Grassroots Festival Award at the UK Festival Awards, the festival industry’s Oscars.
