ASPIRING performers are being offered a fairy tale start to their stage career at Eden Court.
balletLORENT is bringing its acclaimed new version of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale Rapunzel to Inverness on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th October and the company is looking for young people aged between eight and 15 years to take part.
The successful auditionees will make up the young cast for the production and, following a rehearsal period, will join the eight-strong team of balletLORENT’s professional dancers onstage.
balletLORENT will be holding an audition at Eden Court on Sunday 18th August from 10am to 4pm and is encouraging anyone interested to complete an easy application form for an audition place.
"We’re looking for young people, boys and girls, with lots of energy who enjoy being creative," company artistic director Liv Lorent said. You don’t necessarily have to have any dance experience but we are looking for people with plenty of enthusiasm who will be comfortable with the challenge of performing onstage.
"As a company, we really enjoy encouraging young talent and hope that the aspiring young performers of Inverness will come along to the audition and enjoy a great day with us."
Rapunzel has been touring since premiering at the Gala Theatre Durham in October 2012 and so far, has worked with nearly 60 young people in venues across the UK.
One of them was 15-year old Bobby Keys, who took part in Newcastle and Durham and said of the experience: "We have had an amazing time working with the professional dancers. They have taught us so much about different ways to use our bodies."
