A TRULY biblical event will begin in Speyside on Sunday.
All 790,000 words of the King James Bible will be read out over the next six day to mark the tome’s 400th anniversary.
At 10am Reverend Christopher Ketley will begin by reading the first few chapters of Genesis at St Margaret’s Church in Aberlour.
He will be followed by Lord Lieutenant of Banffshire Clare Russell.
As well as marking the anniversary, the event is also aimed at raising money to go towards £200,000 worth of repairs to the building.
Mr Ketley said: "This is also part of us trying to raise funds fro the restoration of the church, and make sure the pointing, the roofing and the other works are undertaken."
He added: "This will get the word of God out, which is what St Margaret’s does, and make people aware that we have a beautiful building that was there for the orphans.
"Although the orphanage has gone we are still there when they return, and for the people of Aberlour."
Funding applications have been submitted to help finance the repairs including one to the Lottery.
Angus Findlay, one of the organisers, said: "We have about 100 people involved and hopefully we’ll have more then that in the end. Everybody is welcome.
"I think it’s going to be a wonderful thing."
From Monday the reading will begin each day at 9am and finish between 9 and 11pm, concluding on Friday.
