The major blaze gutted the former Haldanes store in the town.

Police and fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire and have said it is too early to speculate if it suspicious.

Six fire appliances raced to the scene at East Cathcart Street just before 7am on Wednesday.

They were backed up by an incident command vehicle, aerial appliance and incident support van.

Firefighters tackled the blaze for over four hours, eventually bringing it under control and damping down around lunchtime.

The supermarket, which closed earlier this year, is just yards away from the Buckie Fire Station.

Crews were drafted in from all over Moray to tackle the blaze.
