WELCOME to what is happening in the skies above Moray this April. The nights are now shortening rapidly, and with the introduction of BST on March 29 there seems to be very little dark sky.

THE nights are now shortening rapidly. On March 20 the Sun crosses the equator coming north, and after that the days will be longer than the nights. Add to that the clock change on the 29th, and the nights will really seem to disappear.

THE evening sky is dominated by Venus, the brightest of the planets, and is visible from 5pm in the south-west. Also, you may notice that the nights are now shortening much faster as the sun races towards the Equinox.
