Sir, – I refer to all previous correspondence concerning the River Spey and its everlasting flood issues, in particular to the recent continual precipitation, which is not unusual. But what happens to the water?

Sir, – It makes my heart so sore to read yet again that not only is bullying rife, but that there is very often precious little help in stamping it out and of the victim receiving proper support through such an horrendous ordeal (Letter last week ‘Time to support the victims of bullying’).

Sir, – Charles Macdonald’s continuing campaign to have the River Lossie dredged (Letters, July 2) is well meaning but misguided, in my opinion. Let me say right away, however, that I have every sympathy for those people signing the petition who have had their homes ruined time and time again while waiting for the proposed flood alleviation scheme, involving walls and embankments, that was a long time in the planning process and now awaiting final approval and funding.

Sir, – In 1973 I stayed with the Fraser family of 14 Innes Court, Lhanbryde, for three months and attended Milne’s High School in Fochabers. For years I had contact with George Fraser, born in 1956, but I lost track of him after an address in Edinburgh.

Sir, – Is recycling just a myth in Moray? As part of my occupational duties, I have often to visit the recycling centre in Elgin, to dispose of lots of unwanted items, such as wood, various items of furniture, white goods, pictures, bikes, you name it!

Sir, - I am alarmed to hear that legal action may be required to make Moray Council see the sense in dredging the River Lossie ("Dredging River Lossie 'right thing'" - 'The Northern Scot', April 2). However, I still strongly believe that dredging is the only sensible option for flood alleviation, and I would heartily support anyone else who takes up the cause.
