INSPIRATIONAL was the word used to describe the Duke of York during his visit to Buckie Community High School.

The royal visitors flew into the school to watch talented youngsters stage a musical display in the new £1.8 million performance centre opened earlier this year.

Prince Andrew spent over an hour at the school chatting to pupils and staff.

Acting head David Strachan said: "For the pupils he was quite inspirational in the way that he talked to them.

"He seemed very spontaneous and he really enjoyed engaging with the kids."

After leaving the school the duke visited Lossie Seafoods in Buckie and was given a tour of its 'Pride of Scotland' salmon exporting business.

Later today (Tuesday) he is set to visit Glenfarclas Distillery on Speyside which is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year.

The prince was accompanied by the Lord Lieutenant of Banffshire, Clare Russell during his visits.
