A BUDDING young artist from Tomintoul Primary School has had her work featured in an international art exhibition at the Royal Society of Chemistry in London.

Zoe Stuart (8) was the youngest artist chosen to be in the final exhibition.

Her piece entitled "Frozen Water Makes Cars Spin" was selected from hundreds of entries from Europe and Africa.

Her sculpture art is now part of a 50-piece display about water for the International Year of Chemistry.

Zoe travelled down to London with her mum, Louise Nugent, dad Royan Stuart, and little sister, Alexis (5). Her teacher Philippa Mitchell accompanied the family to London for a special early preview of the exhibition, called ‘Our Children on Water’.

Zoe was presented with a certificate of commendation by the President of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Professor David Phillips.

He said: "Zoe’s inventive art gave a thoughtful insight into an important aspect of water – that of ice – and a very different insight from the art from other countries.

"Each artwork in the exhibition gives an insight into the story of water in different cultures, told from the unbiased, innocent perspective of children."

The artwork is now touring European countries including Germany, Spain, Italy and Belgium, and the whole exhibition is available to view online on Flickr. www.flickr.com/photos/rsc_chemistry/sets/72157626989501819/
