IF THERE'S something strange in your neighbourhood, who you gonna call? Well, how about picking up the phone and getting in touch with Moray's very own team of Ghostbusters? Shane Hull, a former crew member of the cult television show 'Most Haunted', has just moved to the area and has set up a team of paranormal experts to investigate spooky goings-on.

A spiritualist medium, Shane (36) thought he had encountered every weird and wonderful haunting possible during his two years with members of the Living TV show. But he got the fright of his life after spending the night at Spynie Palace, near Elgin, where he believes he heard hundreds of horses galloping through the historic building's grounds. And he also claims that one member of the team emerged from the moonlit vigil with scratches across his face after apparently being mauled by the ghostly spirit of a lion. Shane said: "It is one of the most haunted places that I have ever visited. We got all this just in the grounds of the palace, and I'd love to see what we could pick up inside. "Four members of the team heard hundreds of horses galloping from one end of the palace to the other, and one other member of the team was pushed to the ground by an invisible force. "After the investigation one of our researchers had a badly bruised nose and scratches on his face. It looked like he had been mauled, and it wasn't until later that we found out that Spynie Palace is said to be haunted by a lion which was once kept there as an exotic pet. "The team has been running for only a few weeks and already we have carried out eight investigations. We'd love to have some suggestions from people about other places we could visit. "It doesn't have to be a historic building. We'd be happy to visit houses where we could go in, clear the building and make the home a place they can live in again." Shane first became aware of his spiritualist abilities at the age of 10 when his grandmother died. He was aware of being taken out of his own body and found himself looking down at her on her hospital bed. Just a few minutes later, the family received a phone call to say that she had died. Members of Moray Paranormal Investigations also include a psychic, researchers, a team of cameramen, a parapsychologist. They use digital cameras and videos at their vigils and regularly capture strange swirls of mist and orbs of light, which experts believe could be the first stage of an apparition. Shane said that many people are not aware they are living with a spirit and it is only when unexplained occurrences happen that they become concerned. In some cases, the spirit can often be a loved one coming back to check on the family, while in other cases the energy is actually within the walls of the building. "I've been doing this for 20 years and I could never imagine working in a warehouse 9-5. Yes, some people are very sceptical but this is my job and this is what I do. People ask me if it's like being on Most Haunted, and I tell them it's actually better," said Shane. Anyone who would like the help of Moray Paranormal Investigations is asked to contact Shane on 07857 353 409. There is no charge, but the team does ask for a contribution towards travel expenses.
